Mary Crowned
Mary Crowned “Victorious Queen of Hope & Joy”
A beloved Catholic tradition, the May Crowning honors the Blessed Mother as the Queen of Heaven and Earth—and of our lives. This is a loving and affectionate act of devotion that expresses our love and reverence for Mary, who is our direct path to Christ.
Typically taking place on the first weekend in May, our celebration this year was held on Sat., May 3 on the steps of Cor Unum in Patre Shrine. The Mount Schoenstatt family came together to crown our Mother Thrice Admirable (MTA) as “Victorious Queen of Hope & Joy.” Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Rex Anthony.
As part of our tradition, a large image of the MTA is placed to the right of the altar where she is adorned with flowers and later crowned with a floral crown. To the left of the altar, the Pilgrim Shrines assigned to the Missionaries of the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother Apostolate (SPMA) flow like a river from the Auxiliary Shrine as a symbol of the graces that flow from the Shrine to our homes and hearts.
After Mass, everyone gathered in Kentenich Hall for food and fellowship.
