Mothers Branch Update

Mothers Branch 1Anchored in the Covenant

By Christine Luna Gonzalez

The Confidencia Shrine in Lamar, Texas is designated as one of the Holy Sites during this Jubilee year, where one can receive plenary indulgences. It was the site of our Mothers workshop the first weekend of August.

Leaders from Corpus Christi, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley met with Sr. Virginia Reidl for a very inspiring and educational weekend. Rose Orsborn recalls, “Sister Virginia reviewed with us the Schoenstatt structure, roles and obligations of the Apostolic, League, Federation and Secular Institute.  She emphasized how Schoenstatt is a vocation, and it should awaken in us a longing for the Covenant of Love.”

We leaders intently listened to the history and manner of instructing and preparing our mothers, in our particular groups, for the Covenant of Love.

Mary Tamez commented, “We continue our commitment to find new mothers to join our mothers groups.” Mary also wants to thank Ana de La Rosa and the mothers that helped Sr. Virginia with the workshop and spiritual weekend.

Loretta Charles echoes many of our feelings when she says, “I always feel spiritually uplifted when attending retreats and workshops for leaders. We, as leaders, feel responsible for instilling Our Blessed Mother’s ideals and those of our founder, Fr. Kentenich.”

On the last day, Sunday, we renewed our annual Leaders Consecration. We left this workshop with a clear understanding of our role and commitment to Our Lady of Schoenstatt. It was our founder’s goal to grow, share and spread the message of the Schoenstatt Movement and to be anchored in the Covenant.

We invite all mothers to join our Spanish and English-speaking Mothers groups.
