Annual Posada
On Sunday, Dec. 1, Mount Schoenstatt hosted its annual Posada event, bringing together the Schoenstatt community in a celebration of faith, joy and tradition.
The annual posada is a beautiful opportunity to bring the Schoenstatt community together along with family and friends to celebrate our shared faith and traditions. It was wonderful to see so many families and young children on the grounds of Mount Schoenstatt coming together in anticipation of the birth of our Lord.
We enjoyed delicious food, amazing matachines, a pinata for the kids, photos with St. Nicholas, a raffle and other fun activities. Everyone was also invited to bring a personal letter to the baby Jesus. The event ended with Holy Mass in Cor Unum in Patre Shrine.
What is a Posada? A Posada is a traditional Latin American celebration that re-enacts the journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem as they sought shelter before the birth of Jesus. The event is filled with music, decorations, and delicious food and drinks. Deeply rooted in community and faith, a posada brings families and community together to reflect on the journey made by Mary and Joseph.
As part of the posada tradition at Schoenstatt San Antonio, unwrapped toys are collected and donated to a nonprofit organization that serves children. This year, the gifts were donated to “Fundación Saúl Vara Rivera” in Zaragoza Coahuila, México.
Thank you to all who joined us in this special celebration, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
